The Minted Experience

I have a dilemma… I need a safe place to store our wedding invitations for a good ten months or so, because thanks to winning a $300 credit to minted & my general impatience, I just approved the proof for our wedding invitations & they’re off to be printed & sent to me prior to May 15th, aka a year & 16 days prior to our wedding

My initial plan for our wedding invitations was to have a design created by one of the many talented designers of etsy & then have them printed using VistaPrint. I wanted a design that suited our personalities & the overall theme of our wedding & I wanted them to be affordable, so this seemed like the best way to make everything come together.

Winning the $300 minted credit was a complete game changer though. Honestly, I’ve been lusting after their designs since I discovered their website when we first got engaged. They literally have hundreds of designs ranging from very formal, to a casual barbecue, to vintage & more. One of the first things I did when we got engaged, months ago, was to order their sample package of invitations. It’s free, so if you haven’t already done that, do it now… This sample pack seriously impressed me. It was well organized, showcased the different paper options they offer & showed off a few of their nicest invitation suites. I held on to this sample pack for months, while I threw away all the other similar packages of samples I received from other vendors. That in itself says something, these were the invitations of my dreams, as corny as that is.

So, winning this credit allowed me to turn my invitation dreams into a reality. The night that I won the credit I literally spent hours looking through every single invitation style minted offers. Their website allows you to customize the wording on the invites easily & to add pictures for those invitations that allow it. You can mess with the fonts & the positioning of the words, but you can’t change the colors prior to placing your order.

For me there was one particular invitation style that fit our wedding & us perfectly. So I spent a solid five hours messing with the wording, the fonts, & the pictures on this design the next day. Once I had it perfect aside from the coloring, I decided I was going to pull the trigger & order them. Total cost for 85 invitations with 25 extra envelopes, no fancy paper, additions, or options included? $302 + $7.95 standard shipping. And worth every penny, even if I had to actually pay the $309.95 total… Instead I happily paid $9.95.

After you submit your order, you can still make changes to the invitation you ordered, as well as the order itself. A day or so later you’ll receive a proof to approve — if you requested a change to the coloring of the invitations itself, like I did, this is where you’ll see the changes. Also, every invitation is reviewed by an actual living, breathing designer who will fine tune your invitation & let you know if the quality of your pictures or anything else needs to be fixed. Our proof looked incredible — the design looks amazing with the color that I selected. I double checked all my information to make sure it was in fact correct & then asked Jason, my mom & sisters to review it. We needed to have one word changed & a picture zoomed in a bit, so I let minted know on their website & received a revised proof half a day later (I made my change request after hours, so I received my changes soon after they opened the next day). This morning, I saw the revised proof, determined it to be absolutely perfect & selected the option on the website approving the design & sending it off to be printed. I selected the slowest shipping method offered, since there is no rush whatsoever, so I’ll be receiving our invitations sometime within the next ten days. Once I receive the I’ll be sure to update on the quality, but I have no doubt it will be awesome.

Has anyone else used minted for their wedding invitations? Were you as happy with the experience as I have been so far?
